WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER DOMESTIC INCIDENT
A woman from Albany Township is facing a preliminary hearing in Towanda after she was charged with simple harassment from an incident on Christmas Eve in southern Bradford County. According to State police, 51 year old Pamela Mosier choked David Mosier at their home and then threatened him with a rifle. After responding to the domestic incident, police said they found the full magazine and Mosier admitted to loading it, but she allegedly didn’t know how to put the cartridge in the bolt action rifle. Mosier was incarcerated with strait bail set at 30 thousand dollars. Her hearing is January 8th.
OFFICER ASKS COUNCIL TO RE-EXAMINE BUDGET
The Montgomery Borough Council last night agreed to address a police officer’s concerns at a future work session about the 2020 budget not having enough police man-hours to address the rising crime rates. According to the Sun Gazette, Cpl. Eric Winters requested the council reopen the current budget and reconsider the current reduction plan from 130 to 60 hours a week. Winters said that there has been a spike in serious crime and to reduce patrol hours by 60 percent when crime is up 40 percent is a mistake. The next Montgomery Borough Council meeting is scheduled for February 11
SUSQUEHANNA PRESIDENT PUBLISHES AGAIN
The president of Susquehanna University has published a seventh book compiling years of research into a single source for musicians and conductors of ensembles. President Jonathan D. Green co-authored the book with award-winning music director David W. Oertel, and is called “Choral-Orchestral Repertoire: A Conductor’s Guide”. Green, who was installed as Susquehanna’s 15th president in 2017, is also an accomplished composer.
NARCAN KITS AVAILABLE TOMORROW AT FARM SHOW
The Pennsylvania Department of Health is distributing free Naloxone to Pennsylvania residents between 8am and 9pm tomorrow at their booth at the PA Farm Show as part of Gov. Tom Wolf administration’s ongoing effort to stop opioid overdoses. 14 thousand kits have been distributed to Pennsylvanians in the past 2 years. The kits are shown to stop overdose deaths, which declined in Pennsylvania by 18 percent from 2017 to 2018, dropping from 5,377 to 4,413. The Farm Show is held through this Saturday, January 11th at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center at 2300 N. Cameron St. in Harrisburg.
GEISINGER CITED FOR LAST YEAR’S BACTERIA OUTBREAK
The state health department has released a report that cites Geisinger health center in Danville for failing to routinely sanitize the equipment it used to prepare breast milk. According to the Citizen’s Voice, the report, based on an investigation conducted between Oct. 9 and Oct. 25, is the first to be released after a deadly bacterial outbreak killed three premature babies and sickened five others at the Danville hospital. State health department staff ordered the medical center in Danville to correct several deficiencies in the wake of an October inspection. There have been no new outbreaks since the hospital corrected its policies.
POLICE ARREST NY MAN PASSED OUT THE BEHIND WHEEL
Sayre police have arrested an Upstate New York man for possessing methamphetamine and marijuana, after finding him passed out in a running car on South Wilbur Ave. in Sayre at 10 o’clock at night. According to North Central PA dot com Police investigated and found 31 year old Justin Wheeler, 31, of Alpine, NY, with drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Wheeler is charged with a first offense DUI, intentionally possessing a controlled substance, possession of marijuana for personal use, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has a court date on January 24 in Athens Township.
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO TURNPIKE CRASH
Authorities are seeking answers about a Pennsylvania interstate multi-vehicle accident that killed five people. The Pennsylvania State Police released new details Monday, saying it could be months before there’s a complete picture of what started the incident Sunday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. According to Penn Live, The crash occurred around 3:33 a.m. in the westbound lane of the turnpike in Mount Pleasant Township at mile marker 86.1, closing the highway between the New Stanton and Breezewood exits for roughly 15 hours. The pile-up killed a tour bus driver, a 9-year-old from New York, a second passenger and two occupants of a UPS vehicle, one man from Lewistown, PA. About 60 people were injured in the wreck about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh. Officials say the bus lost control and set of a chain reaction that involved three tractor-trailers and a passenger car.
FIRST DAY FOR WILLIAMSPORT MAYOR
A ceremonial inauguration kicked off Derek Slaughter’s first day as mayor of Williamsport Monday, who has vowed to be a leader of an administration to work with all groups from local businesses to not-for-profits. According to the Sun Gazette, Slaughter also said he believes there are financial irregularities in city government and will work to get the finances in order.. Former councilman Patrick Marty spoke and said the inauguration is an important civic occasion. The event which is a formal welcome and part of city code, also featured music performances with the Williamsport High School Choir.
LOCALS WIN CATTLE AWARDS AT FARM SHOW
Local people won big in the beef cattle category the 104th Pennsylvania Farm Show yesterday. According to farm show reports, multiple first place winner, Jacob Eichenlaub of Mifflinburg took reserve grand champion and reserve grand champion bull. Hannah Imgrund of Lewisburg won grand champion female and reserve champion heifer calf and Amanda Rapp also had multiple firsts and took two champion senior heifer wins. Tonight there is a Maple Production Demonstration by the PA Maple Syrup Producers on the Culinary Connection Stage and a Mini Horse Pull in the Large Arena. The Farm show runs through next Saturday January 11th.
