FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH
A Mount Carmel man died Sunday after a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon on Route 54 in Coal Township. According to the Daily Item, police say Michael Mollica drove his 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle into the gravel and was then ejected from the bike at about 5pm near Timber Road and the Aqua Water Company He was not wearing a helmet at the time. Mollica was treated at the scene and then transported to Geisinger Medical Center where he died the next day from his critical injuries. The Montour County Coroner said toxicology tests are pending.
SHOOTING AT SOLAR FIELD YIELDS TWO ARRESTS
Two out of state men were arrested at a solar field near Kreamer on Monday after a shooting. According to the Daily Item, 23-year-old Timberland Shelton of Georgia and 33-year-old Kendrick Bond of North Carolina were both employees of a subcontractor providing solar power at the site in Kreamer when Shelton retrieved a hnandgun from a car and discharged it toward Bond who fled on foot and was arrested at Waver’s Arhcery. Middleburg police way Bond was arraigned and posted 5 thousand dollars bail. Shelton sustained a leg injury and was treated at Evangelical Community Hospital before he was committed to Snyder County Prison without bail.
CEREMONY MARKS PRYSMIAN EXPANSION
Mayor Derek Slaughter and a host of other business leaders gathered for a beam signing ceremony yesterday at Prysmian’s Williamsport plant project site, marking the significance of the next phase of the 22.5 million dollar expansion. According to the Sun Gazette, Prysmian Group North America will add 51,000 square feet to the existing building and add over 25 jobs to the local site. Plant manager David Horton said the Williamsport electricity distribution plant will play a vital role in reshaping the electric grid of the United States. Mayor Slaughter told the group that Prysmian has had a plant in Williamsport for almost 50 years. Select dignitaries and workers singed a beam that will be incorporated into the structure of the expansion.

The 152nd Lycoming County Fair continues for Senior Citizens Day today, with those over 65 get in free to the fair all day – not including the rides. BICYCLIST ARRESTED AFTER FLEEING POLICE
A Williamsport man who fled from city police on an electric bicycle June 19th while they were trying to take him into custody has been held on all charges for the incident. According to the Sun Gazette, 42 year old Michael Anthony Benson was stopped around the 700 block of West Fourth Street and after trying to flee was caught again and found to have an expandable baton, as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia in a bag he had with him. Benson was arraigned in a preliminary hearing and posted 25 hundred dollars bail.
CONVICTED KILLER WANTS NW TRIAL IN ARABELLA PARKER CASE
Oral arguments were held in Harrisburg this week over whether Jahrid Burgess who was found guilty of homicide in the beating death of 3 year old Arabella Parker of Trevorton, should get a new trial. According to the Daily Item, Burgess’ attorney submitted a filing claiming some expert testimony in the original trial should not have been used after they filed an appeal to the 2021 ruling in January. Burgess was sentenced to up to 50 years but no less than 24 years in state prison. Arabella’s mother, 26 year old Samantha Delcamp, 26, of Trevorton, was also convicted in the case and has also filed an appeal.
TURNPIKE TOLLS TO GO UP IN 2024
If you travel the Pennsylvania Turnpike regularly, expect an increased toll starting in January 7th, 2024 after the Turnpike Commission just approved a 5% increase for E-ZPass and Toll By Plate customers yesterday. According to the Turnpike Commission, the most common toll for a passenger vehicle will increase next year from $1.80 to $1.90 for E-ZPass customers and from $4.40 to $4.70 for Toll By Plate customers. Turnpike tolls will continue to rise through at least 2053, according to Mark Compton, Turnpike CEO.
CLINTON COUNTY NIGHT OUT PLANNED FOR AUGUST 19
The Clinton County Sheriff and District Attorney are preparing for the Second Annual Clinton County Night Out next month that features a variety of the county’s fire departments and emergency medical services so that residents can meet them and ask questions about their jobs. According to the Lock Haven express the event will be Aug. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clinton County Piper Building Complex, and will provide an opportunity for families to tour fire apparatus and emergency vehicles like the Geisinger’s Life Flight helicopter and the Pennsylvania State Police helicopter and plenty more activities. The 2nd annual event is hosted by DA Dave Strouse and Sheriff Kerry Stover.

Philadelphia 76ers general manager Daryl Morey said in an interview Tuesday that the team would only trade James Harden for a player who would keep the Sixers a title contender. Harden opted into a $35.6 million deal for the 2023-24 season ahead of free agency with the intention of being traded. ESPN reports he said he wants to play for the LA Clippers.
